The five events so far during this 2007 Formula D season has provided spectators with some spectacular racing, resulting in a margin of only 3 points separating top ranked Tanner Foust from second ranked Chris Forsberg. The sixth stop in the Formula D season at Wall, NJ, would ensure East Coast spectators an entertaining round of drifting. Despite the sweltering heat, the stands at Wall Speedway were packed until the very end.

Tyler McQuarrie qualified first in his Hankook Tires/JIC Magic Porsche GT-2 with an impressive score of 97.5 @ 62.5 mph, bringing a round of applause from the crowd with his nearly flawless quality run. Championship points leader Tanner Foust qualified second with a 97.5 score on his first run but trailed McQuarrie's speed, trapping at 62.0 mph in his AEM Nissan 350Z. During qualify, Ken Gushi smacked his Ford Racing/Toyo Tires Mustang into the banking in the first turn on his first run, creating major damage to the driver's side front quarter section. Gushi emerged from the vehicle OK and was taken to the track's medical facility for additional tests. Round 5 winner from Infineon Raceway and second ranked Chris Forsberg qualified 8th in his Maxxis 350Z Roadster, eventually losing in the 2nd round to top qualifier McQuarrie.

The top 16 eventually trimmed down to the top 4, leaving McQuarrie to battle Foust for 3rd place and Daijiro Yoshihara to face against Rhys Millen for the spot on top of the podium. In the consolation round, McQuarried invoked the five minute rule to make an attempt to fix a mechanical issue. His Porsche was able to make it to the line but eventually stalled and was not able to restart, thus, giving Foust 3rd place. Despite being the championship points leader, Foust has yet to take the top podium so far during this 2007 season but Wall Speedway was his fifth podium appearance this season, an attestant to his consistency.

With the sun setting and track cooling down, Millen brought out his Red Bull Solstice GXP to face against Yoshihara's Rockstar Silvia S15 in the championship tandem. On the first lap, Millen took the lead, blazing through the track high and fast, resulting in an 8-7 score. On the second lap, Millen spins out at the infield section and handing Yoshihara the victory.

The last stop in the Formula D series will be at Irwindale Speedway on October 13th. With only 14 points separating first from third, the series finale should make for a great event. Stop by the Formula D website for additional details at www.formulad.com
